today it is the most perfect (almost) Spring Friday! the weather here is spectacular! the sun is out, no clouds in the sky and the spring flowers are bursting with colour. SO happy it's the weekend!!!

we have another jam packed weekend planned again... I'm heading out with the girls tonight, looking at kitchen stuff tomorrow, a birthday party for Cody tomorrow night and then with whatever spare time we have left we have to do a yard clean up including demo'ing our back potting shed so we can put it out along with any other random junk we have lying around, for our yearly city clean up campaign, where people dump their junk on the road outside their house and the magic fairies come and take it away...

How are you (in the northern hemisphere) going to spend the first weekend of Spring??

kitchen inspiration

now that we have been in our place for 8 months (how time flies) and have really lived in the spaces, we are finally getting to a stage where we are ready sink our teeth into the planning of the renovation and since the kitchen is the first thing you see when you walk in the door - we are really keen to start there.

since the space is fairly small we are thinking white on white to open up the space

here's some inspiration for what I have in mind for our currently green and gold and wood and tile kitchen which you can see here to get the creative juices flowing...

found this photo of Coop that we took on one of our first camping trips with him to kilarney in canada in 2005, this was the same weekend he jumped out of the canoe and instantly learnt how to swim...

here he is 2 years later when we went back to Kilarney for another canoe/camping trip. it's hard to believe he is going to be 5 this year!

powdery skiing last week

Here's one of the many, many ribs I devoured prior to destroying several buckets of butter drenched crab legs at the annual crab feed. I'm already counting down the days til next year's feast.

Here's what I discovered last night when I was searching the house for Cody so he could help hang our new window. Awwww. I crept off, grabbed the camera, snapped this, and then shouted "Get up and hlep me!!!"

monday monday

must admit I am feeling a little deflated today... after a big weekend and with daylight savings kicking in and having to get up a whole hour earlier, the coffee is just not cutting it today.

we had a jam packed weekend of yard work, a park date, housework, saw Shutter Island, went for a bike ride, and a crab feed for a local school, where I won $625!!! woohoo! :D

whatever shall I spend it on???

Spring is so very close now and all the plants are starting to awaken from their slumber, including all the weeds in our garden... so this weekend we are going to do some gardening, go for a bike ride, catch a movie, go to a crab feed (even though I don't like seafood...) and generally hang around the house. very excited that daylight savings starts this weekend too!

I have just returned home after 4 days in the snow, 3 of which were for work (I have a great job btw) and the other night at dinner the discussion with my team of 6 turned to travel, places we wanted to see before we died and things we wanted to do. it was great to hear some of the cool things my diverse team has already done, and still want to do - but it got me thinking that I need a list. I mean I have a bunch of things I want to do before I die, and as a fanatical list maker I can't believe I have never put them down in one place!

They're here!!

The cabinets were all delivered today and they're beautiful! I wasn't too sure about getting dark wood, but I am happy I did! Now we just need to finish sealing off the kitchen wall, install the door and windows (arriving Saturday) and these puppies will be installed within the next week or so!!
